Purdue Fort Wayne Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Maryville on the Road

Purdue Fort Wayne men’s volleyball team continues their winning streak by defeating the Maryville Saints.

The Mastodon dominated the Saints, winning three straight sets: 25-17, 25-19, and 25-17.

Senior Jon Diedrich led the team with ten kills. Sophomore Mark Frazier was just behind him with nine. Caden Klingbeil led the Saints in this statistic with nine.  

Sergio Carrillo, a graduate student for PFW, had a great game with 19 assists. PFW’s opponents were led in assists by David Fleischer, who had 14.

The most impressive stat of the game was the difference in total of aces between both teams. PFW had ten aces compared to Maryville’s two. PFW junior Bryce Walker had five aces, Diedrich had four, and senior Carlos Mercado had one.

This win increases PFW’s winning streak to eight games and increases their record to 9-1.

Maryville drops to 2-7 on the season. Their next matchup will be at home versus Central State University.

The Mastodons next game is Friday at 8pm Est in St. Charles, Missouri against Lindenwood.

This will be PFW’s first MIVA matchup of the season. They will hope to carry on with this win streak against their 7 upcoming conference opponents.
