Purdue Fort Wane Women’s Basketball Team Defeats Detroit Mercy in the First Round of the Horizon League Tournament.

Purdue Fort Wayne women’s basketball team beat the Detroit mercy tonight in a 65-61 victory. With this win Purdue Fort Wayne moves on to play in the second round of the Horizon League Tournament on Thursday. PFW had a good lead until the end of the game, but Detroit’s comeback fell short.

The Mastodons shot well today as they went 43.6% from the field, 41.2% from three and 76.9% from the free throw line. Detroit Mercy went 47.4% from the field, 43.8% from three and 0.0% from the free throw line.

PFW was led on offense tonight by Audra Emmerson. Emmerson led the mastodons with 16 points, one assist and two rebounds. Detroit Mercy was led by Emma Trawally Porta who had 12 points, three assists, 12 rebounds and two blocks.

Detroit Mercy had the edge in rebounds tonight but this did not change the result. Detroit had 40 rebounds compared to PFW who had 24. Detroit was led in this stat by Porta who had 12. PFW was led in this stat by Shayla Sellers who had seven.

With the loss Detroit Mercy end their season with a 5-25 record.

At this point it is unknown who PFW will play in the second round as games are still ongoing.
