Purdue Fort Wayne’s Baseball Team Suffers a Big Loss Today Against Valparaiso

Purdue Fort Wayne’s baseball team fell 3-9 today against Valparaiso. PFW was able to get hits, but they were unable to get runners home.

Valparaiso got things started early today as they got on the board in the first inning. PFW tied up the game in the third inning, but Valparaiso took the lead back as they scored in their side of the inning.

Valparaiso broke the game open in the 4th inning as they scored five runs, setting the score at 1-7.

Valparaiso scored one run in the 6th and then added their final run in the 9th. PFW added two more runs in the 9th.

The Mastodon’s best batter today was Jacob Walker who went 5/5 from the plate and had one RBI.

PFW’s Rex Stills took the loss and is now 0-5 on the season. The worst pitcher for PFW was Mike Madura who had an ERA of 14.85.

Following the loss PFW is now 8-24 on the season. Their next time out comes tomorrow against Dayton.

Purdue Fort Wayne Men’s Golf Team Finishes 6th In the Don Benbow Invitational

Purdue Fort Wayne men’s golf team finished in 6th place in the Don Benbow Invitational. This three round event started yesterday and ended this afternoon.

PFW’s Kasey Lilly took 8th place in the invitational. This top 10 finish extends his school record for top 10 finishes to 13.

PFW’s team score was 857.

Lilly was PFW’s best golfer in this invitational as he finished the event in 8th place. He shot 67 in round one, 72 in round two and 71 in round three for a total score of 210.

Hunter Mefford and Nick Holder finished tied for 28th place in the invitational as they each shot a total score of 215.

Mefford shot 67 in round one, 71 in round two and 77 in round three. Holder shot 70 in round one, 69 in round two and 76 in round three.

The Mastodons had two other golfers take part in this invitational. Burke Pitz finished 50th and Jadden Ousley finished tied for 66th.

Pitz shot 72 in round one, 74 in round two and 74 in round three for a total score of 220. Ousley shot 76 in both rounds one and two and then shot 74 in round three for a total score of 226.

The invitational was won by Ball State who had a team score of 818.

Ball State’s Carter took 1st in the event. He shot a total score of 199.

PFW’s next time out will be April 10. This will be start of a two day invitational known as The Jewell.

Purdue Fort Wayne’s Baseball Team Loses to Bowling Green University

Purdue Fort Wayne’s baseball team lost 4-7 to Bowling Green University today. PFW’s losing streak grows to two games.

Bowling Green took the lead in the first inning as they scored one run. They then scored three more runs before PFW got on the board.

The Mastodons scored three runs in the 3rd inning making it a tighter contest.

PFW tied up the game in the 5th inning as they scored one run making the score 4-4.

Bowling Green then regained control in the 6th inning as they scored two runs. They added one more run in the 7th inning. PFW did not score the rest of the game and the final score stayed at 4-7.

Kevin Fee took the loss for PFW today as he allowed two runs in 2.2 innings. He struck out five and walked two.

PFW’s best batter today was Braedon Blackford. Blackford went 1/4 his lone hit being a home run and drove in three RBIs.

With the win Bowling Green moves to 9-13 on the season.

With the loss PFW falls to 6-19 on the season. Their next game will be Friday against Youngstown State. This will be the start of a three game weekend series.

Purdue Fort Wayne’s Baseball Team Takes Two Wins In Weekend Series Against Northern Kentucky

Purdue Fort Wayne’s baseball team took two wins in a three game weekend series against Northern Kentucky. This series started on Friday and ended this afternoon. This series was PFW’s home opener.

In the first game of the series PFW took a 6-5 victory. The game started slow as the first run was not scored till the 5th inning. This slow game turned around as PFW earned all six of their runs in this inning.

Northern Kentucky finally got on the scoreboard in the 8th inning where they earned their five runs. This made for a tight finish, but PFW was able to close out the game in the 9th inning.

Ben Higgins was PFW’s best batter in the game as he went 2/4, scored a run and sent in four RBI’s.

Mac Ayers collected the win today as he pitched 5.1 innings where he allowed zero runs. JD Deany got the save as he struck out the last batter.

One of the games of the series was supposed to be played on Saturday but was postponed to Sunday setting up a series ending double header.

The Mastodons won the first game today 9-5. Going late into the game PFW trailed 1-5.

PFW turned the game around and scored six runs in the 7th inning. They then added two more runs in the 8th to close out their batting for the game.

PFW’s best batter in this game was Braedon Blackford. He batted 2/4, with one of his hits being a home run, scored two runs, sent in one RBI and reached base through being walked.

JD Deany collected the win in this game as he held Northern Kentucky scoreless through 5.0 innings. He picked up five strikeouts and only walked one batter.

PFW lost the last game of the series 1-10. After having a good weekend batting the team went cold in the final game.

PFW was held scoreless till the 9th inning but their one run was not enough as Northern Kentucky’s bats were hot in this game.

Caileb Johnson was PFW’s best batter in this game as he went 1/3, scored a run, had a RBI, and reached base by being walked.

Willard Owen took the loss in this game as he allowed two runs in 2.0 innings pitched.

After this series PFW is now 6-18 on the season and are 3-3 in Horizon League play.

Their next game will be at home on Tuesday against Bowling Green.

Purdue Fort Wayne Men’s Volleyball Team Falls to MIVA Opponent Lewis University In Four Sets

Purdue Fort Wayne men’s volleyball team loses to Lewis University tonight in four sets. Set scores were 25-23, 18-25, 15-25 and 22-25

The Mastodons came into this match with a better record than Lewis and were on a two match win streak. Lewis came in and dominated PFW.

Lewis outplayed PFW in every statistic tonight. The only stat that PFW led in was attack errors as they had 28 compared to Lewis’ 18.

The Mastodons had a poor hitting match as they hit .093%. Lewis hit .269%. PFW’s player with the best hitting percent was Wilmer Hernandez who hit 1.000%. Lewis best hitting percentage belonged to Tyler Morgan who hit .750%.

Lewis had 47 kills while PFW had 38 kills. Lewis was led in this stat by Max Roquet who had 15 kills. PFW was led by Jon Diedrich who had 14 kills.

With the win Lewis University moves to 14-10 on the season. They are now 5-5 in MIVA play.

With the loss PFW falls to 14-10 on the season. They are now 5-5 in MIVA play. PFW and Lewis are now tied for 5th in the MIVA.

PFW’s next match will be Thursday against Quincy University.

Purdue Fort Wayne Men’s Volleyball Team Defeats McKendree In Fifth Set

Purdue Fort Wayne men’s volleyball team defeated McKendree, 3-2, last night in a tight match. Set scores were 25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 24-26 and 15-13.

PFW’s Mark Frazier had a career day as he had career highs in kills with 19 and digs with 13. He led the team in both these stats while also adding one ace.

McKendree was led by Bryce Wetjen in kills as he had 18. Kevin Schuele led the team in digs with 13.

The Mastodons dominated this match in blocks. They had 17 compared to McKendree’s seven. PFW was led in blocks by Bryce Walker who had eight. McKendree was led by Rolen Lively who had five.

With the loss McKendree fell to 6-11 on the season and 1-9 in MIVA play.

With the win PFW moved to 14-9 on the season and are 5-4 in MIVA play.

PFW’s next match will be tomorrow at 6 against Lewis University. PFW will hope to collect another win to keep their streak alive.

Purdue Fort Wayne’s Softball Team Loses Two Games Against Youngstown State

Purdue Fort Wayne’s softball team lost twice today in back to back games against Youngstown State. PFW kept the first game close as it ended 3-4. PFW then struggled in the second game as they lost 2-7.

In the first game the Mastodons took the first lead of the game after scoring three runs in the third inning. They kept the score 3-0 till the fifth inning.

Youngstown State got onto the board in the 5th inning as they scored two runs. They then tied the game in the 6th inning.

PFW was unable to score in the 7th and Youngstown State added one more run to get the win.

Sonia Solis was PFW’s best batter in game one as she went 3/4, scored one run and drove in one RBI.

PFW’s Alanah Jones took the loss in game one.

In the second game PFW started off strong by scoring two runs in the 1st inning. Youngstown State followed up by scoring a run of their own.

PFW went scoreless in the 2nd inning while Youngstown State scored three runs.

Youngstown then added their final three runs in the 3rd inning.

After the 3rd inning there was no more scoring and PFW lost 2-7.

PFW’s best batter was Taylor Warne who went 1/3 and scored a run.

PFW’s pitcher, Alyson Quinlan, struggled as she allowed six runs in 2.1 innings. She totaled an ERA of 18.00 in this game.

With the win Youngstown State move to 9-13 on the season.

With the loss PFW falls to 5-18 on the season. Their next game will be on March 29 against Valparaiso.

Purdue Fort Wayne’s Mens Golf Team Finishes 12th in the ECU Intercollegiate

Purdue Fort Wayne men’s golf team finished 12th out of 16 colleges at the ECU Collegiate. This event started yesterday and finished this afternoon.

PFW had one golfer finish in the top 20. This was Kasey Lilly who shot 76 in round one, 74 in round two and 74 in round three. His total score of 224 had him tied for 19th out of 90 golfers.

Four other Mastodon golfers took part in the event, Burke Pitz, Hunter Mefford, Nick Holder and Jadden Ousley.

Pitz finished the event tied at 46th. He shot 82 in the first round, 72 in the second round and 76 for a total score of 230.

Mefford finished 58th in the event. He shot 82 in round one, 73 in round two and 77 in round three for a total score of 232.

Holder and Ousley finished the event tied for 67th. Holder shot 80 in round one, 79 in round two and 76 in round three for a total score of 235. Ousley shot 78 in round one, 75 in round two and 82 in round three for a total score of 235.

PFW finished the event with a team score of 913.

East Carolina won the event with a total score of 882. They were led by Lucas Augustsson who won the event with a score of 213.

The Mastodons next time out will be March 27 where they will take part in the Butler Spring Invitational.

Purdue Fort Wayne Women’s Golf Team Finishes 6th in Nevel Meade Collegiate

Purdue Fort Wayne women’s golf team finished 6th out of 13 colleges at the Nevel Mead Collegiate. This event started yesterday and finished this afternoon.

PFW had one golfer finish in the top 15. This was Anna Olafsdottir who shot 80 in round one and 75 in round two. Her total score of 155 had her tied for 14th out of 78 golfers.

Four other Mastodon golfers took part in the event, Laura Caetano, Amy Dagsdottir, Luiza Caetano and Natalie Papa.

Laura Caetano finished the event tied at 17th. She shot 81 in the first round and 75 in the second round for a total score of 156.

Dagsdottir and Luiza Caetano finished tied for 32nd. Dagsdottir shot 84 in round one and 77 in round two for a total score of 161. Caetano shot 81 in round one and 80 in round two for a total score of 161.

Papa finished tied for 61st. She shot 86 in round one and 83 in round two for a total score of 169.

Central Michigan won the event with a total score of 602. They were led by Casilda Allendesalazar who won the event with a score of 144.

The Mastodons next time out will be April 15 where they will take part in the Lady Jaguar Invitational.

Purdue Fort Wayne’s Baseball Team Loses 6-8 to Bowling Green University

Purdue Fort Wayne’s baseball team lost today, 6-8, against Bowling Green University. PFW made it a close game but could not finish their comeback.

Bowling Green had a better day at the plate than the Mastodons as they 10 hits and six RBIs. The Mastodons only had five hits but had six RBIs.

PFW had two batters go yard today as Calieb Johnson and Brooks Sailors hit home runs.

Sailors was PFW’s best batter as he went 1/3 batting, sent home three RBIs and got on base off a walk.

PFW pitchers, Colin Bauer and Kevin Fee had struggles today. Bauer allowed allowed three runs in two innings pitched giving him a 13.50 ERA. Fee allowed three runs in three innings pitched for a 9.00 ERA.

With the win Bowling Green has moved to 5-12 on the season.

With the loss PFW falls to 4-17 on the season.

The Mastodons next game will be Friday against Northern Kentucky. This is PFW’s home opener and will be the start of a three game weekend series.
